Honeysuckle
romps across large shrubs and brings them down with its strangling strength, but I forgive the rampage
soft summer evenings the scent of honeysuckle outdoes the roses
We have about six or seven different honeysuckle climbers around our gardens, and they are a bit of a pest, it has to be said. They can literally fell a thirty foot high shrub or tree, if you let them. Most gardeners consider them their enemy. I adore their summer perfume and we have given them free rein in their wild growing habit. Once you start pruning them back, they usually die, so taming is not an option if you like them. |
